Getting Certified Baby!!

Hello friends! I am extremely excited to announce that I have officially enrolled for my Certified Wedding Planner course. After spending tons of hours on the web researching different programs, I decided to enroll in The Wedding Planning Institute for their Certified Event and Wedding Planner course. After reading several forums about different courses I began to get a bit worried. Everyone had a different opinion, some positive, some negative…..it must have been around 50 pages or so of comments in one forum I went to, and I must say, it was getting annoying because I began to second guess myself.

  • Was I making the right decision with this course?
  • Was it worth the $$$?
  • Will the course be as in depth and specific as I think it is?
  • What if it was a piece of….yeah that!?

All of these thoughts began racing through my head!! And boy was I getting frustrated. I literally had like 6 tabs opened with the different courses offered comparing their outlines, and frankly, I was driving myself insane. So, I went with my gut choice, which was the course I originally settled on.

I guess as I go through the course, the questions above will slowly be answered. They state that the course is designed to be completed between 8-10 weeks but I’m going to shoot for 6. What do you think?

I want to thank all of you for the support it really does make a difference. I know that I wont be planning 20 weddings a year just yet, but I’m keeping a positive attitude.

Happy Saturday!

Show Time

Happy Monday! Hope all of you guys had a great weekend. Congrats to last night’s big winner at the Grammys, Adele (yaaaay!!) who took home a whopping 6 awards. Great job girl! I love her. (Who doesn’t?). Her performance was awesome. Overall it was a good show this year.

This month I will begin to attend bridal shows to get to know vendors in my area as well as trunk shows to keep up with the latest on designer bridal gown collections. I’m hoping that these shows have great vendor turnouts so that I can get tons of business cards and really get to work. Not to mention, that there will lots of brides (I hope). I will keep you guys posted and will be posting pics of the events I attend. Lets see how good these shows are for business.

These are some of the upcoming events for this month which I plan to attend, most of which are very low-cost if not, FREE.

Ooh La La!

Hello my friends. I’m pleased to say that I am slowly but surely reaching out to vendors in the business and I have to say, I have gotten great feed back. Putting yourself out there is a pretty hard task especially, because you have no idea what these experts are going to think. In my case, since I lack the experience I feel that they might be turned off by that. But, much to my surprise, there are people out there who are willing to help you start out. In my case I want to be able to build a great selection of vendors. They will be the ones that will take my vision to the next level, so it is important to me that my vendors are up to par. The last thing I want is a shabby vendor to screw up my brides special day. Which in turn will not get me the best word of mouth referrals I’m looking for.

Prospect Brides

As I mentioned in my very first post, I helped my friend with her wedding so I told  her that I was looking into really taking this seriously, and immediately she let several of her friends know that I was wedding planning…and voilà! I instantly have two prospect brides for this year!!! Sooo excited to get my feet wet and show you guys how these turn out. With that said, word of  mouth is definitely the most important marketing tool as I am learning in this business.  As soon as I as have my first consultation with one of them I will let you guys know how it went.

I started thinking of  themes and color combinations I would like to work with and I really like the Black, Blush and Ivory for a French Ooh La La themed wedding. I think its super chic! So these are a few things I had in mind for this type of wedding.

Venue

Here in  Miami a great venue for this type of theme would have to be beautiful Viscaya overlooking the bay. This venue can resemble Venice as seen in the other image.

Flowers

I would go for blush peonies, anemones and ivory roses. This lovely bouquet has Ooh La La written all over it. Via Martha Stewart Weddings .

I love these candle holders with kissing balls via Design By Aubrey, these could be great centerpieces. (I would incorporate the blush peony as well for this theme)

Details

Use can use these Eiffel tower place card holders to keep your french theme throughout your big day.  I found these on beaucoup for ($1.40 each) Aren’t they super cute?

Check out these hanging place card holders! They are actually little pockets with the fabulous damask design card inside. How clever!

This cake is simply to die for! Definitely for a large affair at 5 tiers, but this look can be scaled down for the intimate wedding as well. Via onewed.com

Gown Of The Day

To go with this theme I love this mermaid, Matthew Christopher gown with a sweetheart neckline. Stunning!

Love Is In The Air

Well hello you guys. Even though there is nothing romantic about this rainy and humid Miami weather today, a Valentine’s theme wedding is.  With Valentine’s day around the corner I wanted to share some ruby-red inspiration for those extra romantic brides.

For the bold bride a red gown like this one can truly make a statement.

For the not so brave bride, this ruffled  Pepe Botella gown exerts romance and these red Aruna Seth shoes can give you that Valentines pop.

For the reception, going all red can be truly amazing. Check out these centerpieces by Wild Flower Events. The gold candelabra and the crystals add that glam factor. I love it!!

Gown of the day

Today’s gown of the day is a gorgeous Spanish style ruffled organza gown by Aire Barcelona. What do you think ?
